Jessie Chui
a self-taught sculptor and photographer, Jessie Chui merges both mediums to capture florals in a moment in time.
Her work resides in private collections in North America and Europe, and a collaborative piece with artist Gee Horton resides in the permanent collection of the Cincinnati Art Museum.
Born in Hong Kong in 1983, Jessie earned a BA with Honours in Psychology from York University (Toronto, Canada) and a LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School (Toronto, Ontario). After a seven-year practice in family law, the death of a loved one, and the birth of her first son, she embarked on a lifelong artistic journey exploring the beauty and wonder of life and death and challenging the perception of what appears to be real or inanimate.
In addition to making art, Jessie teaches at local and international workshops as well as through her online educational platform, Crafted to Bloom. She is the author of two best-selling books: Paper Flower Art: Create Beautifully Realistic Floral Arrangements (GMC Publications, 2019) and Paper Flowers (GMC Publications, 2022). She also co-hosts a podcast devoted to the art of paper flowers called Paper Talk. Her work has been published in numerous online and offline publications including 100 Layer Cake, Green Wedding Shoes, Breathe Magazine, WedLuxe, and Holt Renfrew Holiday Magazine, to name a few.
Jessie resides in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, just outside of Toronto, with her husband and two young sons.
